Birthday Card Idea #1
I wanted to contrast the black and kraft cardstock in this fun cupcake birthday card.
For this first card, I used:
- Black cardstock to write the “Happy Birthday” phrase using a Molotov Liquid Chrome marker.
- Craft cardstock to hold the card together.
- White cardstock to doodle the cupcake.
- Tombow Dual Brush Pens to color the cupcake. You can use colored pencils or any other marker you have available.
- Linc Glitter Gel and Sakura White Gel pens to add embellishments to the cupcake and card.
Cupcake Birthday Card with Hand Lettering Step-by-Step Tutorial
First, using the Molotov Liquid Chrome marker, I hand-lettered “happy” doing faux calligraphy and “birthday” with block lettering in the black cardstock.
Then, I doodled the cupcake on white cardstock, outlined it using a Sharpie pen, and colored it with the Tombow Dual Brush Pens.
Once I was done coloring, I cut it, leaving a white space around the cupcake.
Finally, I pasted it into the black cardstock, then the black cardstock into the craft cardstock.
This is the final result!
This card was so simple to make, and it turned out so cute 🙂
Birthday Card Idea #2
For this second birthday card idea, you’ll need fewer materials.
We’ll use brush pens – I used Karin Brush pens, a silver paint pen, and kraft paper.
First, write “Happy” in modern calligraphy and “Birthday” in block lettering. You can use any brush pen you have. I also used an extra-fine silver paint pen to add a line shadow to the lettering and doodle stars, balloons, and dots around the card.
THAT’S IT!
An easy birthday card idea you can make in 15 minutes!
