Why you need a word of the year by Vial Designs

MY WORD OF THE YEAR 2019

Last week I decided to share my word of the year with my email subscribers for a specific reason. If you’re not a subscriber yet, make sure you get amongst it.

I share free resources, worksheets, and weekly inspiration. Make sure you go to my resource library to fill this form to become part of the Vial Designs tribe.

The main reason why I picked a word of the year is that I never believed too much in New Year resolutions. I tried setting resolutions for a couple of years, only to find out that I didn’t stick to them past January. This year, I want to be more intentional with my life and how I go about it. That’s why I decided to pick a word of the year.

WHY PICK A WORD OF THE YEAR?

The concept is to pick a word that summaries what you want to focus on in your life at the moment. Or it can be things you need to improve on or something that you need more of.

Having a word of the year encourages you to reflect on the focus word when making decisions. It can help you focus on what’s essential for you to achieve your goals.

I know that life is a series of seasons and it’s always changing. The good thing about this concept is that there are no rules. If you choose a word and then want to change it, add another or replace it, it’s okay. Go for it! The goal is to have a word that helps you focus on what you want more of and what you want less of in your life.

MY WORD OF THE YEAR 2019: CONSISTENCY

My word of the year is consistency. I picked this word because consistency is the one thing that kept coming up every time I was researching goal setting. The funny thing is that last year I had the same word. But the difference is that I choose the word in January and never really gave it much thought.

Then this New Year came, and I wanted to give it a second shot. This year I wanted to be different. So I wrote my word of the year and have it displayed on top of my computer as a constant reminder. Also, I wrote it on my planner and even created a video to share on Instagram and also share it Facebook. Sharing my word of the year with the word, family and friends, helps me stay accountable.

This week something weird happened. I was listening to Robin Sharma’s podcast, and this phrase stuck with me…
“Small daily improvements lead to stunning results”.
Later in the week, I came across this quote from Tony Robbins:
“It’s not what we do once in a while that shapes our lives. It’s what we do consistently.”
I took it as a sign and as a reminder to stay consistent. To keep my word of the year in mind and keep working on my goals, even if it’s just a few minutes a day.
I wanted to share my word of the year with you because I want to encourage you to pick one — something you want to implement in your life this year.
Want to learn a new skill? calligraphy? Small daily practice, can lead to big results. It doesn’t have to be calligraphy. Whatever it is, make sure you dedicate at least 20 mins a day to it.

If your new goal for this year is to calligraphy and lettering, then I’m here to help you. Make sure you check these blog posts and fill out the form below to get access to my free resources.
